While this game is great fun, it is not likely to make players much money. A pair (or better) is needed to get some decent wins, but the dealer must qualify to enable the player to get any real payoff. This only happens just over 50% of the time. Players will only get paid their ante at 1-1 less than 50% of the time regardless of how good their cards were! Therefore, a basic strategy should be used to prevent too many losses.

In the most simple and basic terms, players should raise on a beacon hand (A, K, J, 8, 3) or better. Otherwise, fold.
