The Utah Transit Authority has issued an ordinance on use of their wireless internet service for gambling.
Passengers using the service to access gambling or porn sites will be fined $300 for first violations and $500 for subsequent violations.
The UTA some time ago added a free wireless internet service to its Front runner trains, and commuters over 18 may access the service on agreeing to UTA terms and conditions and use of their content filter.
But it seems the filter isn't exactly doing its job as passengers will be subject to transit officer scrutiny of what sites they are accessing on their phones while on the train. The ordinance was introduced in late May and and hasn't seen its first gambling related fine issued yet.
Passengers are able to appeal fines handed down.
